American PSP Firmware Update 2.00
The American version of the PSP system software version 2.00 was released at midnight today. It has all the same features as the Japanese update, including the web browser. Grab it off Sony's site using the link above. Sometimes Sony's servers get overloaded due to all the traffic, so you can download the update file from my server here if needed. Have fun.

PSP Firmware Update 2.00
Firmware version 2.00 is now out and includes the official PSP web browser, the ability to change your wallpaper, and some other nice features. Intended for Japanese PSPs, but it can also work on American ones. However, even though it can work on American PSPs, there is a possibility that it can cause them to malfunction. Please use caution. I have uploaded the file to one of my servers if anyone wants it. Install instructions and the full list of new features are included.

It is now possible to play NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis games on American PSPs and Japanese PSPs with firmware version 1.50 or less. I have tried it on my JPN PSP and it does work. Please DO NOT ask me where to download games.

European PSP release date announced
Quick news bit for our international readers: The PSP will arrive in European territories on September 1, 2005 with a price of £179.99. Only the value pack will be available, which has all the same goodies as the U.S. version. Spider-Man 2 will not come bundled with European systems, but a limited supply can be ordered for free on Sony's web site for people who buy early and register their PSPs.

Japanese PSP Firmware Update 1.50
SCEI issued a minor PSP firmware update last night. This brings the Japanese firmware to v1.50, which is the same as U.S. PSPs. If you have a JPN PSP, you can download the update by clicking the link above, or by connecting to a wireless access point via the PSP. Installation instructions are included in the zip file.
