Import Alert: FightBox announced
January 8, 2004
BBC has announced that its popular sitcom, FightBox, will be translated into video game format for the PlayStation 2, PC, and Game Boy Advance. The title will be developed by BBC owned Gamezlab, the developer for the software on the show.
Players all over the UK create characters with a design kit downloadable off the BBC’s official website. They then combat characters designed by other members of the public in a series of challenges and compete for various prizes. The video game version may include additional creation tools for the next tournament, taking place sometime later this year. It will also star some of the best warriors from the first FightBox tournament and BBC’s own “Sentient” character.
"FightBox is unique. There's nothing like it on television, and it also represents a unique gaming concept," said Dave Lee, BBC Worldwide's director of multimedia. "We hope that these products will not only enhance the experience for fans of the TV show but also entertain the wider, growing gaming community."
FightBox will be released to the European gaming public on February 6, 2004.
