Dragon Quest VIII Trailer bundled with Dragon Quest V January 26, 2004 Square Enix will eke out its first bit of media concerning the eighth title in the Dragon Quest series since August with the PlayStation 2 port of Dragon Quest V, due for release on March 25, 2004 in Japan. Enix announced Dragon Quest VIII over a year ago, shortly before it merged with the RPG giant, Squaresoft. The game was originally slated for a 2004 release, but Square Enix has pushed the date back to sometime in 2005. The best known feature about the title is the adoption of (increasingly main-streamed) cel-shaded graphics. Veteran Dragon Quest staff such as Yuji Horii (handling the script), Akira Toriyama (character design), and Kouichi Sugiyama (composing the music) continue work on the RPG. Dragon Quest V will be a port of the 1992 Super Famicom game of the same title. Orchestral music and 3D graphics will bring the game up to date.
