Champions of Norrath has gone gold
January 28, 2004
Sony Online Entertainment today announced that its PlayStation 2 exclusive action RPG, Champions of Norrath, has gone gold. Now that the game is completed, Champions of Norrath is set to ship to North American retail outlets on February 11, 2004.
"The wait is just about over for one of the most anticipated console games of 2004," said Michael Lustenberger, director of marketing, Sony Online Entertainment. "With five playable characters, randomly generated dungeons, online co-op action with up to four players and relentless, non-stop action, Champions of Norrath offers an incredible gameplay experience for every type of gamer."
Unlike Sony Online Entertainment's other EverQuest related products, Champions of Norrath does not require a monthly fee to play online. Players will have the chance to join an existing game, host their own game, or join/host a private game via SOE's matchmaking service, SOEGames.net. By utilizing a broadband connection, players can also use USB headsets for voice chat. USB keyboards can be used as well. Broadband is required to play online, although a Multitap will allow up to four people play together on one PlayStation 2 offline.
