Popular Tekken fighter gets her own game

April 7, 2004

Even though we already knew it was coming, Namco Hometek announced today that it is currently hard at work on a third-person action adventure game based on Nina Williams from the Tekken franchise. Developed by Namco Limited in Japan, Death by Degrees is expected to ship to North American retail outlets late 2004.

"We are pleased to announce Death by Degrees," said Rod Nakamoto, Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Namco Hometek Inc. "We took one of gamers' favorite Tekken characters out of the confines of the fighting ring and gave her character the depth and incredible fighting agility you would expect of a sexy former assassin."

Death by Degrees gives players a more in-depth look at Nina's past, as she investigates the whereabouts of a stolen high-tech weapon. Nina's mission will take her to a weapons research facility, a cryptic prison, and luxury cruise ship.

By using both analog sticks, players will be able to participate in 360-degree combat using grapples, throws, bare-fists, firearms, and hand-to-hand weapons such as katanas. Nina's trademark Tekken moves will even make an appearance in the game. Death by Degrees isn't just about action though, as players will need to employ stealth in order to get by some areas.

Death by Degrees previously had a working title of "Nina". We'll have more information on Nina's action title at a later date. In the meantime, please check out the screenshots and movie we have posted for the game by clicking on the links below.
