MVP Baseball 2004 slides into stores
March 9, 2004
Coinciding with Konami’s shipment of Firefighter F.D. 18, EA Sports also shipped the 2004 entry of its critically acclaimed fledgling series MVP Baseball to stores nationwide today. Developed by EA Canada, Electronic Arts promises an authentic and deep rendition of America's past time.
Gameplay innovations put players in control of the action in the diamond at the plate, in the field, and on the base path like never before. The EA SPORTS Pure Swing System allows players to crack the ball in style, presenting recognizable signature cuts and unique swing types. EGM has coined the model as “revolutionary,” commenting that it has changed the art of videogame batting forever. On the defensive side of the ball, Big Play Control facilitates diving catches, user-controlled slides, and allows for dramatic home plate collisions -- “all with the touch of the right analog stick,” to quote EA marketing.
MVP Baseball 2004 teems with gameplay modes. The EA Sports Dynasty Mode lets players control all aspects of running a ball club (AA, AAA farm teams, and parent clubs). Pitcher Showdown, Manager Mode, and online play through EA Sports Online for the PC and PlayStation 2 guarantee that this title be considered a grand slam by baseball fans far and wide.
MVP Baseball 2004 is available on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo Gamecube for an MSRP of $49.95. The PC version will retail for $39.95. The MSRP has rated the game “E” for Everyone. Visit the game’s official website for a complete list of features.
