Namco Hometek announces Ace Combat 5
March 25, 2004
Namco Hometek today announced the upcoming release of Ace Combat 5 exclusively for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system. The fifth installment in the Ace Combat series is being developed by Namco Limited in Japan, and the North American version is slated for a Fall 2004 release date.
"There is an incredible expectation of quality associated with the Ace Combat series," said Garry Cole, executive vice president of sales for Namco Hometek Inc. "More than one million people have enjoyed Ace Combat 04 and our development team has been hard at work to make sure those fans have a great sequel to look forward to. With a compelling storyline, unbelievably
realistic graphics and great new exclusive features, Ace Combat 5 is the whole package."
Ace Combat 5 takes place in year 2010, where two superpowers, Osea and Yuktobania, are on the brink of war. The 108th Tactical Fighter Squadron attempted to intercept an unidentified aircraft and the entire squadron was wiped out. As a fighter pilot for Osea, it is up to you and your squadron to defend your nation from this new threat.
Not to be outdone by its predecessors, Ace Combat 5 offers more than 50 different licensed planes and a brand new storyline expanding over 30 missions. Other new features include "Wingman Command", which gives the player the ability to issue orders to his or her wingmen.
