Namco Hometek announced today that Soul Calibur III is scheduled for release exclusively on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system in 2005. Interestingly, Soul Calibur II was released not only on the PlayStation 2, but also the Xbox and GameCube; with each system getting its own exclusive character. This time, it will remain exclusive to Sony's console. [Story continued below]

Soul Calibur III features three brand new characters named Zasalamel, Tira and Setsuka. You can see them in action in the Soul Calibur III media section below. Players can now create his or her own fighters with the new Character Creation Mode. You can choose the gender of your fighter, their occupation, the weapon they use, and more. Custom fighters can be tossed into a real-time simulation in the Chronicles of the Sword Mode. A Museum Mode will be available so gamers can take a look at the history of the franchise. Of course, the traditional single player "Tales of Souls Mode" and versus modes will make a return in this sequel.
