Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home By: Matt C. on February 9, 2003 Eidos Interactive officially announced today that Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home is currently in development for the PlayStation 2. Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home is based on the best-selling Backyard Wrestling video series, which has managed to sell millions of copies on VHS and DVD worldwide. Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home places gamers in the role of an up-and-coming backyard wrestler. Each player's success is based on his ability to use and abuse the environment as well as his opponent. With each win, wrestlers move one step closer to the ultimate goal, being crowned "The King of Hardcore." According to Eidos, the game will offer an extensive list of features taking gamers beyond traditional restrictions of the wrestling genre. Objective-based gameplay will allow for unique level progression and access to unlockable tasks, characters, and bonus video materials. In addition, Backyard Wrestling will have fully interactive and destructible environments, which promises to truly allow players to make good use of everything around them. You'll even be able to pull off insane stunts like jumping off of ladders and rooftops. There will also be a whole slew of weapons that players can use to beat their opponents, including barbed wire, thumbtacks, light bulbs, car doors, tables and more. A two-player mode will be available too, when the game ships this summer. Enjoy the brand-new screenshots below. More info later.
