Adventure/RPG/Action | Vivendi Universal Games and Interplay have announced last week that it is currently working on Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II for the PlayStation 2. The original Dark Alliance game sold well on the PS2 and it even earned the "2002 Console RPG of the Year" award from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences! Dark Alliance II will use the 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons rules set (whatever the hell that means) and an item creation system will allow players to create their very own weapons and armor. In addition, according to Interplay, Dark Alliance II will offer over 40+ levels, five new customizable characters (each with distinctive powers appearances and abilities that develop throughout the game), and a branching storyline that allows the player to choose how he or she wants to the play the game -- making each game experience unique. As for the two-player cooperative mode, it will make an appearance in the sequel as well. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II is due out late 2003. Expect coverage of the game throughout the rest of the year.
