Final Fantasy X-2

Many people have been asking me questions about the storyline in Final Fantasy X-2, so here is what we know so far: Final Fantasy X-2 takes place roughly 2 years after the events of Final Fantasy X. As you know, Sin has been defeated, so many of FFX's characters have simply been going about their lives in peace. Yuna, Lulu, and Wakka have all settled in Besaid. Yuna is quite famous throughout Spira and many people visit the town just to see her. As for Lulu, she and Wakka have a baby on the way.
Rikku eventually gets her hands on some kind of sphere that has Tidus "trapped" inside of it. Not surprisingly, Rikku makes a trip to Besaid so that she can show the sphere to Yuna. After some thought, Yuna and friends decide to investigate to see if that really is Tidus stuck inside the sphere....
Naturally, this is all that Square is willing to reveal at the moment, but it certainly sounds very interesting so far. As I mentioned in my last update, Final Fantasy X-2 will feature a new battle system. The only thing we know about the new battle system is that you can no longer summon monsters to aid you in combat.
Well, that's all for now. Hopefully we'll have more information on the new female character in the next update.
October 27, 2002 Update
At a press conference in Japan a couple days ago, Squaresoft officially revealed Final Fantasy X-2 for the PlayStation 2. Final Fantasy X-2 is an official sidestory to Final Fantasy X and it is primarily focused on Yuna. FF X-2 appears to be more action based and it features Yuna in more suggestive clothing. As you can see in the picture below, Yuna is wearing amazingly short shorts and is holding two pistols -- just like Lara Croft.
Interestingly, Yuna can also climb, run, jump similar to the gameplay found in Tomb Raider. As for the battle system, it has been totally redesigned to provide more exciting battles. At the moment, Final Fantasy X-2 has not been announced in the U.S. but it is slated for a March 2003 release date in Japan. I'll have more screenshots tomorrow.
