Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions By: Matt C. on May 23, 2002 Wreckless was a mixed bag when it was released on the Xbox a while back. The game had some beautiful graphics, but the gameplay department was considered shallow - mostly because of the fact that many people compared it to Grand Theft Auto 3, which has far deeper gameplay. With the PS2 version of Wreckless, Activision is actually taking the best and worst part about the Xbox version, and switching it around. Confused? Let me explain: On the PlayStation 2, Wreckless obviously won't look as good as its Xbox counterpart. Activision knows this and has toned down the game's textures and polygons. In return, Wreckless PS2 will now run at a silky smooth 60 FPS, whereas, the Xbox version ran at 30 FPS. In addition to a faster framerate, Wreckless PS2 will have a "free play" mode, which will allow you to explore the city without dealing with the game clock. This is one feature that was sorely missed on the Xbox. A 2-player mode will also appear in the PS2 version - along with twice as many missions. Lastly, there will be 16 new vehicles to use. Needless to say, the PlayStation 2 version of Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions will be far superior over the Xbox in almost every way (assuming that you don't mind the toned down graphics). As usual, more info will be posted when it becomes available. |
