November 30, 2002 Update

Note: If you're here for the Uncensored Bloody Roar 3 pictures, please see the previous mailbag update.

Even More XXX Gaming!!

Hi Matt. I just wanted to know if you had any more uncensored pictures from PS2 games. Thanks a lot.

Matt: Okay, about 80 or so people have asked me this question, so let me just get it out of the way. GTA: Vice City, BMX XXX, and Metal Gear Solid 2 are the only American PS2 games that are even close to showing any real nudity. So stop asking me if any other PS2 games have nudity. I have some nude pictures from Dead or Alive 2 (using in-game graphics) but I don't really feel like posting them right now. Maybe later.

Bloody Roar 3

Matt, I was totally shocked by those Bloody Roar 3 pictures. How the hell did the developers get away with doing that? It thought Sony was against such content? Please reply!

Matt: Let me clear things up. The developers of Bloody Roar 3 left in the debugging mode in the original shipments of the game. As the name suggests, the debugging mode helps the testers find bugs in the software. Developers usually take this mode out at the very last minute so consumers don't find it and mess around with the game. Some guys (probably horny Japanese dudes) simply found this mode in BR3 and decided to put the characters in sexual positions. It's kinda like Fighter Maker 2 -- the characters are flexible and you gotta spend a lot of time trying to get each of them in the pose you want.

So there you have it. The developers never truly intended for people to do that with the characters. As a result, as soon as the publisher of the game found out of this, the debugging mode was permanently removed. So good luck trying to find a copy of the original version of BR3.

MGS2: Substance

Hi there. I was reading a gaming magazine and I come across an X-box ad for Metal Gear Solid: Substance. After looking at the tiny screenshots, I looked at the bottom left corner of the ad and under Mature it said Partial Nudity. I looked at my PS2 copy of the game and it says no such thing. Did Konami add nudity to the X-box version? If so, why?

Matt: The ESRB has a butt load of games to rate, so they don't always play through an entire game. Some times, they simply play through half of a game and list all of the things that they find (such as violence, gore, adult language, etc). My guess is that they didn't get to the part of the game where Raiden runs around completely naked. Either that, or maybe they just didn't consider it nudity at the time since he uses his hand to cover up his pus... er, I mean "nads".

Getaway Vs. Vice City

i have a question. do you think that the gateway will be better than gta4?

Matt: GTA4? I assume you mean Vice City. The Getaway is a lot different than Vice City. There is no visible HUD and it only takes a few bullets to be killed. Also, the game requires a lot of stealth and the gameplay isn't as open-ended as the last two GTA games. And from what I can tell, there are no motorcycles in the game (don't quote me on that though). I'm not saying that The Getaway will be terrible, I'm just saying that I don't think it will surpass Vice City in the overall experience.

PlayStation 2 Spyware

Hey Matt. I heard that the PlayStation 2 keeps track of all of the games and DVD's that you play in a secret file. And once you take it online with the NetworK Adapter, it sends that data to Sony so that htey can know more about you. I don't care if they know that I like to play Vice City and sh*t, but I don't want them to see which DVD's I have been watching. Anything you can tell me would be gerat. Thanks.

Matt: You're right about one thing -- Sony does collect information about you when you connect to their game servers. It even says so in the "user policy statement" for Twisted Metal: Black Online. However, I doubt they would "scan" your system to see which games or DVD's you have been using. They check to see if you are using a legit copy of the game, what type of connection you are using (broadband or dial-up), etc. So I don't think that you need to worry about it too much.

Vice City Codes

do you have a money cheat for gran theft auto vice city? thanx

Matt: Okay, I know I sometimes forget to post codes, but please use some common sense. If I had a money cheat, don't you think it would be on the Vice City code page? Why would I just keep it to myself?

[insert crap here]

Is Splinter Cell coming out for PS2? What about Unreal Championship?

Matt: Yes to the former (thank god), no to the latter.

Substance Ninja

Hi Matt! I'm a huge Metal Gear fan and I was wondering if the Ninja in Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance will play like the one in VR Missions. Or will he have additional moves? Thanks.

Matt: Hi. Haven't played the Xbox version yet, but it appears that he can only slice and dice guards like in VR Missions. And yes, he can still block bullets with his blade.

Dragon Balls

im curious about dragon ball z budokai for the playstation 2. how many characters will be in it? can you list them all?

Matt: 23 in all, but you need to unlock most of them first. Naturally, Goku is one of the people you can start the game with. No, I won't list them all because the game will be out in a couple days. No point in wasting my time typing them all out if the game is shipping soon.

Resident Evil: Online

dude, this is lame! I heard that resident evil online will cost money to play online! what kind of crap is that! please tell me that this is false. also, i read somewhere that you can't talk to other players using the keyboard and the only thing you get is gay pre-selected crap. tha article i wuz reading also said you can't be sure if you are playing with real peepople or the computer. why would capcom ruin the game like this?

Matt: This is the first time I've heard of having to pay to play RE: Online on the net. You would think that the price of purchasing the game would be enough since I doubt the final game will be that long. And yes, it appears that the game won't support USB keyboards or voice chat. That sucks, I know, but I have a feeling the RE Online will still turn out to be a good title.

Fear Effect Inferno

do you know if fear effect inferno has been canceled? the official pages seem to be down. i fear for the worst :(

Matt: I e-mailed my contact at Eidos Interactive and he forwarded my message to another man working more closely with the project. I asked them about the current status of Fear Effect Inferno. Unfortunately, he didn't get back to me and he probably never will. They must be hiding something.... Seriously though, you'll just have to wait a little longer until Eidos officially spills the beans on why such little information has been released for the game.

SOCOM

Matt, I love your site and I was wondering how come I haven;t seen you in SOCOM? Do you still play the game? Are you usually on late at night or something? Neways, keep up the good work and I hope to hear from you soon.

Matt: The downside about being a "game journalist" is that you rarely have time to play one title for a long time. In other words, once I complete a game for review, I have to move on to another game or the game's publisher will become angry with me for not reviewing it on time. I also don't like playing more than one game at once so I usually concentrate on one title at a time until it has been beaten. Hence, I don't have time to play "classics" like SOCOM anymore. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. I love what I do. I'm simply telling you why I haven't been on SOCOM as of late.

I'll have time during Christmas break though. :)

Huh?

HEY you Mother [deleted] you wanna call me a hippie again how the hell can you enjoy a game without codes you retard

Matt: First of all, I was merely joking. Second of all, you were looking for codes on a game (vice city) that wasn't even released to the public yet, so of course I'm going to make fun of you (at least wait until you've beaten most of the game or if you're stuck!). Third, how can I be a retard when YOU are the one getting upset over something so stupid. Lastly, are you saying that games that don't have major codes like Metal Gear Solid 2, Gran Turismo 3, and Final Fantasy X aren't any fun since you can't enter cheats for Invincibility and such? So the thing that is holding the whole gaming industry together are the codes? Anyway, thanks for the amusing message.

Note: This guy tries to be tough ("you wanna call me a hippie again"), but he didn't even leave his real e-mail address since he sent this via the feedback forms. Listen, if you have a problem with me, simply don't visit my site ever again. Simple as that.

You asshat!

You have some guy running around with the name of Jason Mitchell that is using your site as a guise to scam beta info about Star Wars Galaxies. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Here is a copy of his post.

[Message Removed]

Matt: Thank you to all of you for making me aware of this. I really appreciate it! This guy has been bothering me for quite some time now. First he does this, then he tries to apply for my site using the same name as the one used on the message board. Next, he tells me that he is a freelance writer for a certain PlayStation 2 magazine and that he didn't mean to ruin the image of my site with his little scam. Finally, he says that he will hack my site with a virus -- which was actually quite funny since he obviously couldn't hack his way into a paper bag.

This guy has some serious mental issues, (he's probably reading this right now) so if anyone sees him messing with me on another message board, please tell me ASAP. Thank you.

Send your questions, letters, rants and other crap to matt@playstationpro2.com and I'll get back to you within 1-5 days. If you have a question about Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, please see our Vice City pages before you send me mail. If your question deals with the Official Sony Network Adaptor, please see this page. Thanks.
